After spending a week in Medical Lab Science program it literally dawned on me that it was something I didn't really want to do. Hence, after surviving a semester in that program and then taking a photography course with Roy De Carava, plus some liberal art courses, I applied to School of Visual Arts, where I spent 3 years studying photography. These 3 years in school helped me tremendously in learning the art of photography, getting to know the art of other people, and developing my style. My last project, called "Industrial Nude" was, so to say, the crown of creation of my studying, which I continued developing after graduating. The final result is the B&W prints of the nude figure located in the industrial landscape. There are a few concepts that I am exploring in these works.
First, there is a concept of beauty. Through the history of humanity, nude female figure was considered as a representation of beauty. In my photographs this accepted beauty is contrasted with the beauty of the decaying industrial landscape. The nude, a nature-made being is compared to a man-made objects.
Second, the concept of duality - that of reality and of time - is being explored. What is real and what is not -that is the question that I expect the viewer to question himself / herself. Which time is presented in the work - the past or the now? The confusion is the feeling that I wish the viewer to experience at the first look at the photographs, followed by questioning the above mentioned concepts.
Currently I'm working as a web designer
in computer consulting company, but I never plan to abandon photography
and pursue it as an art form.
